Key course elements

Key elements of the circus arts education are techniques of floor and aerial acrobatics, gymnastic training, juggling and the ongoing training in physical control and agility.

The circus arts education program consists of two phases. The basic course starts by teaching fundamental techniques. At the end of one year there is an exam to determine placement in the advanced groups. Dependent upon performance, students can, starting in the third semester, specialize in one of the principal disciplines. In this way, the education can be fitted to the interests and talents of the individual student.

Complementary subsidiary courses such as pantomime, acting and dance are also offered. Theory classes in anatomy, cultural history and civics round out the program.

In the course of their education, the circus arts students will participate in atelier performances, in which they can present programs which they have prepared during the semester to the public. For their graduation performance at the end of three years, the students show their own self-created piece in their area of specialization. This can be a solo, duo or group work.
